Rilo Chmielorz on her piece "maze" [duration 46:30]:
The maze in its original meaning is a sign of transition and change. Only those who turn back too soon can get lost there. Perfectly planned figures with only one way to the center can be found on approx. 2500-year-old Cretan coins.
The Hopi call the labyrinth the cradle of life and speak of a thread that has no interruption. Myth researchers even see dance as the origin of the winding paths that serve to translate spatial patterns into choreographed movement.

Rilo Chmielorz traces the renewing aspect of the labyrinth in a "performative field experiment." A fictional person moves through sound spaces that make the risk of transition and the ambivalences of life acoustically tangible.

visual artist and multimedia.
She worked in the fields of sound art and radio art. In 2002, she was awarded the German Sound Art Prize. Her works are found in private and public collections. Numerous solo exhibitions, sound installations (Donaueschinger Musiktage), and sound performances both in Germany and abroad, participation in international festivals in Europe, Mexico, Cuba, and Hong Kong. Numerous sound art productions (WDR, Studio Akustische Kunst, Deutschlandradio, SWR), as well as artistic radio features and directing. Her artistic radio feature “Scheitern ist.” (Failure Is.) was nominated for the DokKa Prize/Karlsruhe in 2017. In 2025, the CD “Auf Löffeln tanzen” (Dancing on Spoons) was released by the label Tonkunstmanufaktur in co-production with the Skulpturenmuseum Marl.

Rilo Chmielorz über ihr Stück "maze" [Dauer 46:30]:
Das Labyrinth (englisch „maze“) in seiner ursprünglichen Bedeutung ist ein Zeichen des Wandels und der Veränderung. Verirren kann sich dort nur, wer zu früh umkehrt. Auf ca. 2500 Jahre alten kretischen Münzen finden sich perfekt geplante Figuren, die nur einen einzigen Weg zur Mitte haben.
Die Hopi nennen das Labyrinth die Wiege des Lebens und sprechen von einem Faden, der nirgends unterbrochen ist. Mythenforscher sehen gar im Tanz den Ursprung der verschlungenen Pfade, die dazu da sind, räumliche Muster in choreografierte Bewegung umzusetzen.

Rilo Chmielorz verfolgt den erneuernden Aspekt des Labyrinths in einen „performativen Feldversuch“. Eine fiktive Person bewegt sich durch Klangräume, die das Wagnis des Wandels und die Ambivalenzen des Lebens akustisch erfahrbar machen.

Zahlreiche Einzelausstellungen, Klang-Installationen (Donaueschinger Musiktage) und Klang-Performances im In- und Ausland sowie Teilnahme an internationalen Festivals in Europa, Mexiko, Kuba und Hongkong. Ebenso zahlreiche Klangkunst-Produktionen (WDR, Studio Akustische Kunst, Deutschlandradio, SWR) sowie künstlerische Radio-Features und Regiearbeiten. Das künstlerische Radio- Feature “Scheitern ist.” wurde 2017 für den DokKa- Preis/Karlsruhe nominiert.  2025 erschien die CD „Auf Löffeln tanzen“ beim Label Tonkunstmanufaktur in Co-Produktion mit dem Skulpturenmuseum Marl.
